Feeling Tired Despite Self-Care? Here’s What Might Really Be Going On

You’re eating well, sleeping enough, doing the journaling, drinking the water, maybe even meditating… and yet you still feel tired all the time.
If you’re feeling tired despite self-care, you’re not alone, and you’re definitely not doing anything wrong.
In fact, many women I work with are ticking all the wellness boxes and still feeling utterly exhausted. So what’s really going on beneath the surface?
Why am I still tired even though I’m doing all the right things?
Feeling tired despite self-care is often caused by emotional and energetic overload, things like unspoken expectations, chronic pressure, and outdated beliefs. Even when you're sleeping well and eating right, these invisible stressors can quietly drain your energy.
You’re Not Alone: This Is The Exhaustion No One Talks About.....
I’m writing this from our caravan on Day 3 of the summer holidays. I'm here with the kids for two weeks now, then having three weeks back at home, then another week here at the end of the holidays. It’s my happy place and it suits us because it feels so familiar and safe.
The holidays aren't as chaotic as it used to be when my kids were little, but don’t get me wrong we still have the squabbles, the snack demands, the “I’m bored!” cries on repeat. There’s still a level of background noise that never quite goes away.
And then there’s that feeling that creeps in that I should be doing more. Gone abroad. Created a summer to remember. Given them more of “life.”
Because even though we love this place, there’s still that whisper:
“This isn’t a real holiday. It’s not enough.”
Why You’re Tired Despite Self-Care....
Some of that pressure comes from what I saw growing up.
My parents worked hard and we went abroad every year. They seemed to have it all together. I learned that a “good life” looks like flights, full days, ticked boxes, and everything held together with a smile.
When ‘Doing the Work’ Still Leaves You Drained
But the truth is when we try to live up to that "perfect life' we often push our needs to the bottom of the pile. We keep showing up, keep smiling, keep saying “I’m fine” when actually… we’re flat, drained, resentful. Doing what we think we "should' be doing instead of doing what we want to do.
And that’s not what summer is meant to feel like.
The Invisible Energetic and Emotional Load
You’re not exhausted because you’re doing it wrong.
You’re exhausted because you’re carrying invisible standards no one’s questioned in years.
Beliefs like:
“I have to keep everyone happy.”
“Rest is lazy.”
-
“To be a good mum, I have to give them the best experiences, even if I’m falling apart.”
These beliefs aren’t just thoughts. They shape how we feel, how we show up, and how we carry pressure we never signed up for.
This article from BBC explains why so many mothers are experiencing burnout, even when they’re doing everything “right.”
What You Can Do to Shift the Energy
Belief Editing helps you get under the surface of the overwhelm, to find the root of where these expectations came from, and release them safely.
You don’t have to “fix” yourself.
You don’t have to dig through childhood memories or unpack it all in a session.
Sometimes, all it takes is 40 minutes, some headphones, and a willingness to see things differently.
That’s why I created my Pre-Recorded Belief Editing Sessions, especially for women like you, who are juggling so much and still want space to feel good. To come back to themselves. To breathe.
Quick Summary: Why You Might Be Tired Despite Self-Care
You’re not doing anything wrong, true exhaustion often comes from emotional pressure and invisible expectations, not just physical demands.
If you feel drained even when you're resting and "doing the work," it could be a sign of energetic misalignment or outdated beliefs.
Belief Editing helps uncover and shift the real root of that exhaustion, gently, and without needing to rehash the past.
You deserve to feel good, not just keep it together.
